EVP, or electronic voice phenomenon, are some of the best evidence for the existence of paranormal activity. By definition, an EVP is a
disembodied voice which is not physically heard at the time of recording, but later heard upon playback. They are typically graded via
an A, B, C rating system, with A being the clearest and most likely of being paranormal. At times, a disembodied voice may be physically
heard and also picked up by the recording device. These, along with other unexplained sounds, we refer to as audio anomalies.
Audio evidence really seems to be the "bread and butter" so to speak, of our investigations and to date, is by far the most plentiful
form of evidence we have collected. They not only prove to us that something is there, but also provide a means of communication through
which we can learn about what it is we may be dealing with. It is not uncommon to get direct responses to pointed questions, such as
names, places, or a response relevant to the location or time.
Unlike photo and video evidence, it is much harder to disprove or debunk an EVP that has been subjected to our intense scrutiny. All EVP
and audio anomalies that we collect and present as evidence have been determined not to be:
* a whisper by one of our team members or anyone else present at the investigation
* a background noise in the environment created by either mechanical or natural means
* a fault of either the recording device or operator of the device
In the examples below, we have identified what we believe we hear. If you hear something different, please send us an
e-mail!
This is my home
This class A EVP was collected during the first formal investigation we ever did. It was captured in a clearing in a patch of woods
behind the house at the investigation site. The resident had reported experiencing several things in the woods in addition to the house
itself. Combined with the next EVP, we believe this site to be experiencing legitimate, paranormal activity.
They bug me...
Certainly the most creepy EVP we've heard to date, this class B was collected on a subsequent investigation to the same site as above.
This one, however, was captured in the attic of the house. To truly appreciate it, one must have some of the story behind the phenomenon
experienced. Just prior to having us come in, the resident had gone to the attic to replace the light bulb. As he was about to insert
the new one, it shattered in the palm of his hand. Needless to say, this was quite un-nerving. For a period of several months prior, the
residents had trouble keeping a light bulb working in the attic. This seemed to be the culminating event. Just prior to this EVP being
captured, the investigator had inquired about the shattering of the bulb. An interesting note...upon revealing this EVP to the clients,
we found out that the lady of the house happened to leave the light on up in the attic for over a month straight right after they had
moved in. Apparently, someone (or something) got annoyed!
From them
This class B was caught at one of everyone's favorite paranormal hotspots...Gettysburg...but not at any of the normal locations. We were
conducting an EVP session at the Eastern Calvary Battlefield, which lies several miles outside of town. The EVP seems rather relevant,
given our location at the time.
I don't have it, I don't have
a watch
After some careful review, we believe we finally figured this one out. It was captured at Charlestown Cemetery, which is extremely old
and pre-dates the Revolutionary War. There is said to be some 200-250 unmarked graves of soldiers who died during the winter at Valley
Forge located here. Within seconds after turning the recorder on and tagging the location, the investigator was trying to make note of
the time while realizing that he didn't have his watch, and this is what was caught. The investigator is speaking and you hear something
interject in the middle.
Audio Anomaly #1
This one does not classify as an EVP since we actually heard it at the time. We were recording a podcast with LIGHT Paranormal Research
during a live investigation at the Hall of Presidents in Gettysburg. It sounded like the noise was right in the room with us. At the
time this was caught, groups were in other parts of the building and we were the only ones in the area. To us, it sounds like an old,
rusty hinge or gate. We checked all the doors and could not duplicate the sound. Most likely, this is an audio manifestation of a
residual haunting.
Three
This class B was captured at the KOA Campground in Harpers Ferry, WV. This is a group we were taking around the campground on a
midnight ghost walk during a conference. One of the participants asks, "Is there more than one of you here?" You hear an unintelligible
whisper (probably one of the participants) followed by a rather loud, disembodied response.

Leave the room
Both of these EVP were captured during a daytime investigation at Fort Mifflin. The first was captured in the now infamous Casemate 11.
While we don't believe we captured the voice of William Howe, there was certainly some interesting activity (just ask Adam, whom we
wedged into the airshaft). We caught this upon review of the recorder he had sitting next to him. We believe it may be residual, as
Casemate 11 also sits right under the battlements for the cannons that shot out over the river. The second is fairly obvious, and was
captured in the blacksmith Shop. We were pinging away on the anvil while we were in there, it appears that we may have annoyed Jacob,
the former blacksmith who reportedly haunts the shop.
Now go
A VERY interesting class A captured at a private residence in Reading, PA. This is the first EVP we've captured inside our faraday cage,
which makes it that much more credible. The investigators are talking about it being hard to breathe and having a pressure in their
heads. At the same time this EVP was captured. Apparently, something was trying to send us a message. Later this same night, the client
was scratched across the neck by an unseen force.
Hey Glenn, please go |
Where's daddy?
These two EVP were captured at a private residence in Collegeville, PA. We captured a significant amount of audio here, and these are
just two of the best. It is actually the childhood home of one of our investigators. The first is directly addressing his father as he
got up to go outside, which is definite proof of an intelligent haunting. The second is truly a mystery to us, as it sounds like a young
girl. There were never any young girls that resided in the house.
Tell him, I'm sorry
Yet another EVP from a private residence, this time in Lansdale, PA. This one is interesting because it was preemptive to an empathic
experience one of our investigators had. You can hear him just begin to comment about it a the end. He was overcome by a wave of sadness
and felt like he was going to cry. Upon reviewing the audio, we picked this up immediately leading up to his experience.
Percy
This class A is a prime example a direct response to a pointed question. It was captured in the attic of the Phoenixville Library. There
is only one male and two female investigators in the room at the time. However, a deep male voice answers the question and sounds like
they are right there with them in the room. A funny side note, less then a minute after thism Adam states, "Man, I feel like there's
someone standing right next to me!"
